Waiting on Change-But you can help

on January 24, 2014

Life involves a whole lot of waiting but what one is waiting for changes through out life.  As Christan we wait for God’s timing as His plan is the perfect plan for life and His timing could not be a millisecond better.  Waiting and being content in the wait has been a hard lesson in my life and it seems since I started my life on this rock it has only gotten harder.  Not only am I waiting for some of the same things I was waiting for back home, but now I also must wait to see my family and friends.  This week has been no different with an increase in the waiting lessons.  First one of my best friends gave me a link to a blog where the writer posted everyday for an entire month about waiting.

With a busy Medical school curriculum my free time has not be abundant to read all of these posts but I have read 3 and really enjoyed what the author said.  Then on Monday this was my devotional for the day from the book Jesus Calling:

Approach this day with awareness of who is Boss.  As you make plans for the day, remember that it is I who orchestrates the events of your life.  On days when things go smoothly, according to your plans, you may be unaware of My sovereign Presence.  On days when your plans are thwarted, be on the lookout for Me!  I may be doing something important in your life, something quite different from what you expected.  It is essential at such times to stay in communication with Me, accepting My way as better than yours.  Don’t try to figure out what is happening.  Simply trust Me and thank Me in advance for the good that will come out of it all.  I know the plans I have for you, and they are good.

As I continue to wait on God’s timing another thing to wait for came to my attention today.  Back in 1997 Congress put a cap on the amount of medical residency positions in the United States in order to save money and decrease the national debt.  However, by 2016 the amount of Medical school graduates will out number this capped number of spots so the more graduates schools put out will not combat the physician shortage which is estimated to be 90,000 by 2020.  Unfortunately I will be entering the residency match in 2016 and need to compete with all of these US graduates to get a residency position which is necessary to get licensed.  Please watch this video to find out more.

So now I need to wait as congress decides if more residency positions will be opened up.  Here is where you come in and can help.  Please contact your federal representative and senators and ask them to vote in favor of the following bills S. 577, HR. 1201, and HR. 1180. Here is a website to find your local senator and your representative

Not only will you be helping in my future you will be helping to cut down the wait you will have to see a doctor in 6 years.  Please take the few minutes and get support for these bills and also share my blog post so that more Americans will be informed about this issues and contact their senators and representative.

Thank you for your help.
