Celebration Time

on June 14, 2014

Everyone has those moments where joy is simply uncontainable.  Ecclesiastes tells us that God’s perfect plan has time for every season imaginable and this includes seasons of joy and seasons of unending joy.

Joy can come in the little things…

-Waking up to a sunny day…or even just waking up

-Seeing or speaking to your friend

-Getting the job or promotion

-Returning home after being way for an extended amount of time

Joy can come in big way….

-Getting accepted to college…or medical school

-Finding out you passed an exam [with an A]…which you thought you failed…then jumping up and down when finding out your grade

-The marriage proposal you long waited for…followed by the marriage itself

-The cure that extends your life

-Great news after a stream of bad new

No matter the type of joy it is a gift from God.  A gift to be thankful for.  A gift to to remember and bask in.  The best thing about joy is it can come at a time when it is needed the most.  It’s one of the ways God keeps His promise that He will not give us more than we can handle.  For that I am very thankful.  Lately I feel like all I was hearing was bad new including the death of my great uncle.  Today which so happens to be the service for my uncle a friend gets wonderful news about her disease.

This good news as does joy coming from other big occasions leads to a season of celebration.  We are told to give to God what is God’s and thank God for what he blesses us with…therefore praise should be the go to mode of transportation such as with the doxology:

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

This joy and happiness is a reminder to take a moment each and everyday to look for the joy resting in the little things.  A joy that can also be a cause of celebration.  A joy that makes the hard times easier and makes it easier to get up in the morning.

This past Monday marked block 1 for this semester which just so happened to be another success.  Surprisingly this block went by a lot faster than it did the past 3 semesters. Reflecting on this brings me joy as it is likely that the next 10 weeks will go by just as fast if not faster meaning I will once again be home for the 2 more weeks!  All this joy reminds me of a song I used to sing as a little girl with my Grandma.

Down In My Heart Lyrics

I have the joy, joy, joy, joy,
Down in my heart,
Down in my heart,
Down in my heart,
I have the joy, joy, joy, joy,
Down in my heart,
Down in my heart to stay.

And I’m so happy, so very happy
I have the love of Jesus in my heart.
(down in my heart)
And I’m so happy, so very happy
I have the love of Jesus in my heart.

I have the love of Jesus, love of Jesus,
Down in my heart,
Down in my heart,
Down in my heart,
I have the love of Jesus, love of Jesus,
Down in my heart,
Down in my heart to stay.

And I’m so happy, so very happy
I have the love of Jesus in my heart.
(down in my heart)
And I’m so happy, so very happy
I have the love of Jesus in my heart.

I’ve got the wonderful love of my precious redeemer,
Way down in the depths of my heart,
Down in my heart,
Down in my heart,
I’ve got the wonderful love of my precious redeemer,
Way down in the depths of my heart,
Down in my heart to stay.

And I’m so happy, so very happy
I have the love of Jesus in my heart.
(down in my heart)
And I’m so happy, so very happy
I have the love of Jesus in my heart.

I have a challenge for each and everyone of you.  Take the time to find the moments of joy and rejoice when you find them.  If you can’t find joy look for ways to bring joy into your life.  Maybe you can try something new or reach out and fix a broken relationship.  Maybe you can go on a new adventure.  One thing is for sure life is short but it can be joyous if you so choose.

I love that song, it’s just so simple! Wish the whole world could sing it, all at the same time. Maybe the fighting and shooting and all things bad would just stop! It really is so simple 😉
